Other AbstractAf ast autof ocusi ng algorithmbased on prediction is proposed f or the large-scale microscopic i mages acCuisition of flat preparations .Firstly 9the method uses the i n-f ocus positions of ad acent i mages to esti mate that of current i mages 9and then makes ti ny ad ust ment at the esti mated position to get accurate i n-f ocus position 9thus 9avoids the local maxi ma problemof f ocusi ng curves .Secondly 9the global threshold method is used to select f ocusi ng Wi ndoWadaptively 9and it can eli mi nate the background i nterf erence and ensure the accuracy of f ocusi ng curves .This algorithmdecreases greatly the number of i mages that are ac- Cuired f or autof ocusi ng 9and i ncreases the speed 9accuracy and robustness of the microscopic autof ocusi ng system.
