An Efficient Approach of 2D to 3D Video Conversion Based on Piece-wise Structure from Motion

Abstract
With the popularity of3Dfilms, the conversion of
existing 2D videos to 3D videos has attracted a wide interest
in3Dcontent production. In this paper,we present an efficient
approach for 2D to 3D video conversion based on structure
from motion (SFM). The key contributions include a piecewise
SFM approach and a novel nonlinear depth warping
considering the characteristics of stereoscopic 3D. The dense
depth maps are generated and further refined with color segmentation.
Experiments showthat the proposed approach can
yield more visually satisfactory results.
