Other AbstractThe mechanical stiffness is the key to modeling of ball screw drive systems in machine tools .This paper present s a static stiffness model of a ball screw drive system based on the static equilibrium and the deform able coordination .The Fourier transform of the second order wave equation in the complex frequency domain for the exciting of a concentrated load was used in a distributed parameter dynamic model of the ball screw with different boundary conditions on the two ends. This static stiffness model was verified by simulations and experiments. The low frequency characteristics of the dynamic stiffness model accord with the static stiffness model result, while the high frequency characteristics of the dynamic stiffness model agree with frequency response data.
