AbstractDirected paths in random media are used for function approximation and nonlinear regression. Input data are taken as random pinning. Wandering directed paths, subject to internal elasticity and interaction with the pinning, when pinned, are solutions to these problems. (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
