Abstract: Functional-Structural Plant Models (FSPMs) refer to the integrated modeling on plant structure, biomass production and partition, as well as the internal link between these processes, which simulate the complex plant system at individual organ level. The application domains of FSPMs were proposed, the development of their key components (structural model, functional model and light distribution model) were reviewed, the state-of-art of FSPMs was commented, and the future research directions were discussed.
