英文摘要 | Since the concept of the dynamic circuits were proposed in 1980s, it has been widely used in various high-performance processors since it has few integrated transistors, small fan-in capacitance, fast transition speed, and takes small expenses in pipeline. The Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences undertakes a project on the high-performance Algebraic processor, which has a crucial requirement about its performance, area and power. Since dynamic circuits have the advantage of ultra-high speed, this logic style is taken into consideration in our designment. Therefore, the design flow of the dynamic circuits is urgently needed to be set up. However, numerous difficulties exist in designing the dynamic circuits, as IC manufacturers do not provide designable logic cell library, and popular EDA tools do not support establishing libraries for dynamic circuits, which make great challenges in building libraries for dynamic circuits. Moreover, as the requirement of unilateral transform for Domino Logic(i.e. there is no reverse logic), automaticsynthesis of the circuits becomes difficult. To solve the problems above, this paper studiesin three aspects of designing the dynamic circuits, namely building a library of dynamic units, synthesise the circuits and the circuit unate transform. (1) As current IC manufacturers do not provide designable logic cell library, and no commercial EDA tools support describing or building the library of dynamic circuit units, a method of building the library for dynamic units is proposed. The method gives detailed parameters for dynamic circuits, including those in timing sequence, delay, power consumption, and particular parameters in dynamic circuits. The method to describe these parameters is also proposed, and the extraction for the parameters is realized by the simulation tool Hspice. The proposed method accomplishes the establishment of the library and it can extractthe attributes of the dynamic units automatically, which is successfully applied in the design practice.This proposed methodyields more complete information of attributes and more accuracydata than those produced from the NanoTime tool, and it also performs better in characterizingbig cell. (2) As for the absence of EDA tools to support the synthesis of dynamic circuits, a method to synthesise dynamic circuits using existing EDA tool is proposed, by establishing pseudo-static libraries used in dynamic units.
