Along with the development of computer technology and media technology, the form of information content has turned into more complex, from the simple text, images to multimedia contents with rich information, and also the quantity had a sharp increase. Thus people how to retrieval information efficiently from mass data has become a challenging problem. This dissertation does a lot of research work on Streaming media technology and distributed computing technology research, presents schemes for multimedia player nested in Web browsers and distributed computing separately, finally designs and implements a digital content manager platform that can process, manage and browse the mass multimedia content efficiently. This thesis work includes the following aspects: (1) Presenting a schema for browser multimedia player on the base of research work on current related technology of streaming media, which combine the technology of MPlayer and Java APPLET, having a better performance and compatibility. (2) Doing lots of research work on current technology of distributed computing, introducing the present situation of distributed computing, the Google MapReduce algorithm is emphasized. Proposing a novel framework of distributed multimedia on the base of MapReduce and business workflow. Experiment shows the scheme has a good performance, and can be used in practice. (3) Designing and developing a digital content management platform which can distribute process the digital contednt automatically, supports collabative tasks like check, mark and verify. The platform also provides browser interface of system manage, system monitor and digital content browsing. System expandability is also considered in this platform.
